Course Details

Eligibility:

Requirements:
The first requirement of a candidate who seeks admission to this institute is that she should have genuine love for and interest in pursuing the Teacher’s Training and be ready to abide by the requirements of the institution.

Eligibility : Candidates must have passed 2nd PUC/12th Standard or equivalent Examination. Candidates should have studied SSLC/10th Standard in the medium they have applied or have studied that medium language applied as 1st or 2nd language in SSLC/10th standard and should have studied any two of the following languages specified below either in SSLC/10th standard or in II PUC.12th Standard.

Languages: English, shop Kannada, diagnosis Hindi, sick Telugu, Arabic, Tamil, Malayalam, Urdu, Marathi, Sanskrit

1 a) The applicants shall have a minimum of 50% of marks in II PUC/12th Standard or equivalent examination. But S.C., S.T, and Physically handicapped candidates shall have a minimum of 45% of marks in II P.U.C./12 Standard or equivalent examination.

b) In addition candidates selected under H.K./G.K. quota should compulsorily attend the Kannada Examination conducted by centralized Admission Cell.

2) Arts, Science and commerce candidates should have studied minimum two electives of the elective subjects specified below in second PUC/12th Standard/equivalent examination.

Arts: History, civics, Economics, geography, Political Science, Sociology, Kannada, Education-1, Education-2,

Science: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics and Statistics.

Commerce: History, Economics, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Kannada, education-1, Education –2, Statistics.

Introduction to D.Ed. First year Course:

In the first year, there is a conscious effort to introduce basic concepts of education covering the foundations of Education. In the present curriculum content cum methodology is visualized under the heading Facilitating learning which covers Kannada/Hindi, Mathematics and EVS at the lower primary level. All the three courses are full papers for 100 marks. And there is ne more course called Educational assessment and evaluation in the first year for 50 marks. The student teachers will under go training in the CCE perspective which is the demand of the day in Karnataka.

A comprehensive understanding of health and physical education leading to improved physical, social, mental and emotional fitness is vital to the holistic development of every child. In the first hear games and movement education is the focus which is appropriate for the primary level, while physical education as a subject is taught at the higher primary level. This paper is also for 50 marks in both the years and there is no external examination for this paper. The Present curriculum introduces a set of curses called Teacher Development studies. (TDS). In the first year programme student teachers will have two courses namely Arts in Education and Reflective practices. Both the courses are for 25 marks each. There is no external examination for both the papers.

Arts in Education attempts to make student teachers sensitive to the needs of identifying and using different art forms in making teaching-learning enjoyable and productive.

Introduction to D.Ed. Second Year:
In the second year, the basic concepts of education studied in the first year are reinforced through the study of Education as practice. In the present curriculum content cum methodology is reconceptualised as Facilitating learning of Kannada, Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science at the Upper Primary Level. All these courses are full papers for 100 marks. While facilitating learning of first Language and English the compulsory for al student teachers, they have to choose one among the three facilitating learning papers; Maths/Science/Social Science.

A comprehensive understanding of Heath and Physical Education leading to improved physical, social, mental and emotional fitness are vital to the holistic development of every child. Keeping this rationale in view, there is a course on physical education in both the years. Health and Physical Education as a subject is taught at the higher primary level. This paper is also for 50 marks and there is no external examination for this paper.

Keeping in view the professional preparation requirements of student teachers, the present curriculum introduces a set of courses called Teacher Development studies’ (TDS). In the second year programme, student teachers will have three courses namely ICT Mediation, Education for peace and Work and Education, with 25, 20 and 25 marks respectively. There is no external examination for all these three courses.

Student teachers are expected to do an action research on any one topic ( in either one of the two languages or the subject of their choice) during internship. This will be assessed for 50 marks internally. There is no external examination for this paper. These courses along with allotted marks and instructional time are as follows.
